Setting up your Michigan Spots account is quick and easy! Follow these steps to join the treasure hunting community.

Sign Up Process

1. Visit the Website

Go to michiganspots.com and click the “Join the Hunt” button.

2. Connect with Reddit

Section titled “2. Connect with Reddit”
  • Click “Sign up with Reddit”
  • You’ll be redirected to Reddit to authorize the connection
  • This allows you to participate in community discussions and challenges

3. Choose Your Profile

Section titled “3. Choose Your Profile”
  • Username: Pick a unique treasure hunter name
  • Home City: Select your Michigan city to join the local team
  • Profile Photo: Upload a photo or use your Reddit avatar

4. Set Your Preferences

Section titled “4. Set Your Preferences”
  • Notification Settings: Choose how you want to be notified about new challenges
  • Privacy Level: Decide what information is visible to other players
  • Challenge Difficulty: Select your preferred challenge level

Account Features

Your Profile

Your profile includes:

  • Total points earned
  • Badges and achievements
  • Spots discovered
  • Challenge completions
  • Team affiliations

Privacy Settings

Control what others can see:

  • Public: Full profile visible to all players
  • Friends Only: Limited to players you follow
  • Private: Only basic stats visible

Notification Preferences

Stay updated with:

  • New weekly challenges
  • Nearby spot discoveries
  • Team competitions
  • Achievement unlocks
  • Community events

Connecting Social Accounts

Reddit Integration

Your Reddit account enables:

  • Automatic posting of discoveries (optional)
  • Participation in r/michiganspots discussions
  • Access to Reddit-exclusive challenges
  • Community voting on new spots

Team Selection

Choose your city team to:

  • Compete in city vs city challenges
  • Access local leaderboards
  • Connect with nearby players
  • Participate in regional events

Account Security

Keep Your Account Safe

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Enable two-factor authentication if available
  • Don’t share your login credentials
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
